After School Program


The After School Program operates as a licensed childcare center and as such must comply with all required State of Nebraska regulations. While the program operates in the school, it is not funded nor run by the Columbus Public Schools.


Purpose:
To keep children and youth engaged in activities that help them to learn and succeed. Studies show that children who participate in after school programs perform better in school.

Benefits:

  • Convenience—offered in the school, reducing transportation issues
  • Affordability—cost is less than most child care centers and sliding fees are available
  • Safety—children in safe, supervised environment after school
  • Homework help—after school tutoring, coordination with classroom teachers

Schedule:

3:15-3:30 Healthy Snack
3:30-4:00 Assisted homework/study time
4:00-5:00 Planned program time
5:00-5:30 Recreation
5:30-6:00 Clean-up and preparation for going home, individual time


The program operates on early dismissal days.


Costs:

Registration Fee--$30.00 per family. This is a one time fee for materials and start-up costs.
Daily Fee--$3.00 per day if you pick up your child prior to 4:30 p.m.
$5.00 per day if your child leaves later than 4:30 p.m.
Closing time is 6:00 p.m.
Billing: Parents are billed twice a month
