About Centennial

Centennial Elementary is a K-5 building with three sections of each grade level. The total student enrollment is approximately 415 students. Centennial implements a "walk to reading" model at each grade level so that all students receive 90 minutes of uninterrupted reading instruction at their individual reading level.

In addition to classroom instruction, students participate in physical education, music and media classes several times per week. Centennial offers a variety of special education services to students and has an English as a Second Language Program for English Language Learners. The school is a school-wide Title building, which means that Title I services are available to all students who need additional reading support. A high ability learner program is offered for students in grades 3-5.

All students, K-5, take a reading assessment called DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) at the beginning and end of each school year, so that staff can monitor progress. Students in grades 2-5 also take an assessment called MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) three times per year to asses their academic growth in the areas of reading, math and language.

Centennial houses a district-wide preschool program for three and four year old children. This program is language based and provides developmentally appropriate learning activities for young children. The program offers both a morning and an afternoon session and has a total preschool enrollment of 30 students.
